National Museum of Nature and Science

National Museum of Nature and Science

The National Museum of Nature and Science is one of the longest standing museums in Japan, and is the only national museum dedicated to integrated sciences.

The museum takes upon itself the mission of deepening the public's knowledge of technology, the earth and life, and of contributing an ideal form of relationship between humans, nature and technology. The museum boasts a collection of an estimated 3.8 million items.

The popular attraction "Earth Room" was moved here from the 2005 Aichi Expo, and has been reborn as "THEATER 360" - a sphere 12.8m in diameter (exactly one millionth of the size of the Earth). Its inside is entirely covered with screens showing a film footage in a 360° panoramic projection, giving visitors a unique feeling of levitation.
