The Mitsuo Aida Museum is a place where the public can come face to face with the many deeply resonating works left behind by the calligrapher and poet Mitsuo Aida in "My Words" and "My Writings".
The museum exhibits the words of a man who viewed life as sacred, expressed in his own unique calligraphy. The themed yearly special exhibition showcases an average of 100 works. Aida Mitsuo encountered a Zen priest during his youth and spent his lifetime learning Shobugenzo (The Treasury of the True Dharma Eye), and the thoughts of Buddhist monks flow into the basis of his writing.
Laying bare his own weaknesses and faults, Aida expressed his human self in his works without any flourish; and readers feel his works tell earnestly of another time. There are many fans of the unique sensations his works inspire in readers.
