Although the type of entertainment the Blueman Group represents may be difficult to categorize in a single genre, it could be described as a clever combination of comedy and rock and roll.

Starting off as New York street performers in the late 1980s, they quickly gained nationwide popularity. For the past 19 years they have continued to perform in their original New York Off Broadway location, Astor Place Theatre.

In 2007, the group brought their performances to Tokyo, their first appearance in Asia. These performances ended their run in November 2009, but from 2010 they returned to Tokyo with a brand new show.

Although at first glance they may seem a bit strange, the Blueman Group's wordless performances are a treat for all ages. Fully utilizing the space of their exclusive theater, they feature whimsical comedy acts using objects such as marshmallows, scrap wood, and pipes, as well as conduct enveloping musical performances using mysterious original instruments. Their shows break down the barrier between the stage and the audience, and will surely captivate anyone who watches.
