Ao Building

A new landmark building on Aoyama Street, the AO Building opened in March 2009 and hosts about 40 shops of diverse kinds - encompassing everything from men and women's fashion brands, to interior design stores, and Kinokuniya International with its many imported foodstuffs.

In contrast to the glass curtain walls at the front, the rear of the building is home to an expressive four-story terraced garden, including a Green Terrace thick with trees and foliage, and a Water Terrace brimming with cool moisture.

The AO Building also contains a luxurious amount of open space, from which you can cast your eye over all of central Shinjuku - providing a new oasis in the middle of Aoyama.

At night, neutral lighting on the outside of the building sets off the color LEDs, drawing attention to the unique many-faceted structure of the building and its extensive use of glass. The feel of the building changes gently every 10-20 seconds, reminding the beholder of flowing water and light reflecting off the clouds. The patterns of the lights are changed with the seasons and for special events.
