Hokkaido - Japan's northernmost island. Surrounded by majestic nature, the ocean, mountains, lakes and moors make up Hokkaido's landscapes - you can enjoy scenery for all four seasons and not lose interest. While summer is time for outdoor activities that take you away from the heat and winter is when you can ski or snowboard, Hokkaido's numerous hot springs are renowned in Japan for their water quality. We can especially recommend soaking in an open-air bath when the autumn foliage is out. The food in Hokkaido is blessed by the bounty from the mountains and the sea. Fresh seafood such as crabs or salmon roe are exquisite. Also, you can't forget Sapporo's miso ramen, Asahikawa's shoyu ramen or Hakodate's shio ramen. Many visitors come to Hokkaido not just from the rest of Japan, but we are happy to greet many visitors from areas where snow doesn't fall and visitors from the southern hemisphere where the seasons are reversed.
