The Edo-Tokyo Museum helps you better imagine what Tokyo life was like in the Edo period. Preserved and displayed are a rich array of everyday commodity from centuries back, such as ukiyoe prints, picture scrolls, kimono, and old maps.
Permanent exhibition space is divided into the Edo Zone, the Tokyo Zone and the Second Special Exhibitions Gallery, offering a total of about 2,500 small items and 50 larger exhibits, including replicas of houses and theaters, all reminiscent of the days when Japan was still practically unknown to the West.
This museum was justly rated as the best historical archive recommended by women in the Nikkei economic newspaper's "Everything Charts," and was also awarded two stars on Michelin Tourism Guide of France.
