This park is located in the area of the Kyu-Hakone-Rikyu. As to be expected from a detached palace built in the famous tourist area of Hakone, the view from the park is breathtaking. From the crater lake, Lake Ashi, to the outer rim of Mt. Hakone's crater, to the unblocked view of Mount Fuji, it has been selected as one of Kanagawa's 50 Famous View Spots. Almost directly in the center of the park is the cornerstone of the main building of Kyu-Hakone-Rikyu. The "Lakeshore Viewing House" has been built on that exact site to give visitors a taste of what the view from the palace may have been like in olden times. Within the Viewing House there are several items from Hakone-Rikyu that tell the story of its glory days. From the second floor balcony, the enjoyment of the breathtaking scenery may rival even the time when the area was used as a palace.
