The third and concluding installment of the blockbuster movie series Batman, directed by Christopher Nolan, is scheduled to hit Japan on July 28. With its highly anticipated theatrical release less than six months away, excitement is brewing among fans worldwide.
The latest official trailer came out December last year, and saw a record number of iTunes downloads, totaling 12.5 million in 24 hours. In the U.S., midnight IMAX screening tickets have been sold out instantly in some of the major cities.
Confronting Batman is the new super-villain Bane, a menacing, intelligent foe on the level of the Joker. This new enemy as portrayed in the original comic series is fluent in six active and two dead languages, has a photographic memory and possesses a superhuman physical strength.
Fans wait in excitement to see how he comes out in a live-action film version, under the development of Christopher Nolan who has established a reputation for his realistic approach to moviemaking.
Meantime, a brand-new image of Bane has been revealed as he poses in combat attire with his soldiers, and holds up a photo of District Attorney Harvey Dent.
Tom Hardy has been chosen to play Bane, with Christian Bale being cast as Bruce Wayne/Batman, and Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. The all-star cast lineup also includes Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
