"Gamera" has been roaringly popular with each generation since its initial release in 1965, and is now being made into a social game by GREE.
Kadogawa Contents Gate has teamed up with mobile social game developer ORATTA, and, on January 6th, registered a new SNS card game with GREE under the title "Gamera Battle". January 31st is set as the tentative release date.
The concept of the development and card battle game, "Gamera Battle", is based off of the movie series, "Gamera". In the game, the user teams up with Gamera to battle legendary monsters, and must first construct a defensive army using the land (tanks and army vehicles), air (jets and helicopters), and foot (infantry armor) units at their disposal. Gamera joins the team and helps the user protect the town from attacking monsters, with rare units gained by defeating the invaders.
In addition to the battle element, one of the main attractions of the game is the development aspect, with the player being able to freely assemble and arrange their defense force. Like most social games, the game itself is offered for free, with players being charged for any in-game items they purchase.
The "Gamera" series began in 1965, with a new film being released each year until 1971. New titles followed in the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. The character has withstood the test of time and remains a household name.
The social game network has grown rapidly and gained a large number of users, yet competition remains fierce, and by bringing in the famous icon "Gamera", the company hopes to appeal to the many fans of the series.
