Popular anime series, "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion" is going to be adapted into a stage performance. The stage production--titled, "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion--Souran Zenyasai (Mayhem's Eve)"--will be performed 13 times at the Mozart Halls at Tokyo's Katsushika Symphony Hills from April 7th till the 16th.
Much of the details have remained under wraps until now, with new information emerging at the Code Geass New Project press conference that was held on January 12th.
At the conference, Enichi Tanno (who'll be playing Lelouch) and Hidemasa Shiozawa (who'll be playing Suzaku), shared their views on their roles and the production. Producer Masayuki Ozaki from Bandai Namco Live Creative, and (theater) production producer Yoko Yutaka, also discussed the development of the stage production.

According to producer Ozaki, he'd been hoping to create a stage adaptation of the anime for over two years, but had been held back by how much was needed to create a performance that would meet the fans' high expectations.
The play only took shape after he was able to gain the cooperation of the anime's original team, and find a reliable partner and cast.

The story begins around the time Lelouch's childhood friend, Suzaku Kururugi, is admitted to Ashford Academy. The play covers a timeframe not shown in the anime, but stays true to the TV series.
The lead characters are played by Enichi Tanno and Hidemasa Shiozawa, who strongly resemble the anime characters they are portraying. The cast demonstrates the production's commitment towards keeping the stage version as close to the anime as possible.
About the play, Enichi Tanno commented, "I want to make it a play that people will want to see again". "Friendly competition helps us to reach peak performance," Hidemasa Shiozawa added. It seems like we can be expecting a lot from these two.

One of the highlights of the performance is when the massive Knightmare Frame takes to the stage. "We spent six months thinking about how to accomplish it. Having decided on a course of action, we are now working at top speed to complete it." Producer Yutaka shared confidently.
Special advance reservation tickets are available at Family Marts from January 12th till the 18th. Details can be confirmed at the official website.
