Original anime series by Director Tatsuyuki Nagai, "Ano Natsu de Matteru", to begin in January

A new anime series, "Ano Natsu de Matteru", will begin airing in January of 2012. What makes this anime stand out is that it's an original story that isn't based on a manga or book. And while it's an original story, it has captured the public's attention, thanks in part to the big names that are on the production staff list.
In the director's seat is Tatsuyuki Nagai, a director known for making hits out of original stories, such as "Anohi mita hana no namae wo bokutachi wa mada shiranai". Screenplay is written by Yosuke Kuroda, whose previous works include "Ookiku furikabutte" and "Kidousenshi Gundam 00". Taraku Uon is on character development , while Masayoshi Tanaka, whose previous work include "Tora Dora!", "Highschool of the dead", and "Ano Hana", is on character design.

The story appears to be along the lines of boy meets girl. Kaito Kirishima and his friends decide to make a movie together, and during that time a "special" girl, Ichika Takatsuki, comes to town.
Although there are only two more weeks left till the release, not much of the story has been revealed, and it seems like the staff are trying to keep the story secret until the release so that the content remains fresh and new.

The title will be promoted over the New Years. A 2011 Winter Comi "Natsumachi" exclusive goods box will be on sale at the RONDO ROBE booth during the year-end event, Comic Market 81. The goods box includes three items, including a novel.
First is a DVD, which includes a "Natsumachi" original movie---for which Tatsuyuki Nagai created the storyboard and visual effects---and a promotion video for the TV anime. Next is a CD, which includes original tracks by Shinji Orito (Visual Arts) and Kazuya Takase (I've). Last is a five-chapter novel written by Yousuke Kurota and illustrated by Taraku Uon. The goods box will be sold at the reasonable price of 2000 yen, tax included, and is expected to be a sought-after item at the event. Other booths will also be passing out free can badges and calendar posters.

A web radio called, "Ichika and Rinon's Natsumachi radio" will begin its first airing on December 26th. Billboard trailer trucks showing the characters standing in front of a blue sky will run in Akihabara, Shinjuku, Ikebukuro and Shibuya from December 28th till January 5th, while large billboards have been set up in various locations in Akihabara. There's no doubt that we'll be seeing a lot of "Ano Natsu de Matteru" during the holidays.
