PROFILE

Yuko Miyajima (born September 1986, Tokyo) is a stop-motion animator. Her artwork is famous for its distinctly nostalgic feel.

Her interest in special effects and stop motion animation was fueled by old Czech animations---most notably, by the works of Karel Zeman.

She studied 16mm cinematography at Nihon University, College of Art. After a stint at a printing firm, she began her career as an independent artist in October 2010.

Aside from stop motion animations, she creates figurative art and other forms of background work for exhibition displays. She is also involved in the creation of puppets for stop-motion animation, backdrops, and lighting work for miniature films.
